Questions
What drivers ask in the first week
General answers to the questions I hear most. Your situation may differ; the first conversation is where we talk about yours.
After the stop
What should I do in the first few days?
Keep every paper you were given, write down what you remember while it's fresh, and don't discuss the night with anyone but a lawyer. Then check the deadline on your license notice.
Do I have to go to the arraignment?
Usually, yes. It's the first court date, where the charge is read and conditions are set. I'll be there with you.
My car was towed. Can you help?
I can tell you who has it and what's needed to get it back, though the fees are the tow company's.
Your license
How long do I have to ask for a hearing?
Not long, and it varies with the kind of suspension. The deadline is on your notice. Send it to me as soon as you can.
Can I keep driving to work?
Sometimes, with a hardship license or before a suspension takes effect. I'll tell you once I've seen your notice and record.
Working with me
Will I deal with you or with staff?
With me. I read the intake forms, return the calls and go to every hearing myself.
Do you take cases outside Boston?
Yes, in the district courts around the city and in New Hampshire. Ask about a specific court and I'll tell you if I can be there.
Can you promise my case will be dismissed?
No lawyer can honestly promise that. I can promise careful work and straight answers about your chances.
A question not on the list
Ask it here, in general terms, and I'll answer by email.
